The Tale of Bricks House
A full-scale material study that became a permanent home
Built from
the place.
A compact home in Sivakasi began as a full-scale research mock-up. Instead of dismantling the experiment, Earthscape Studio designed it as a lasting residence for a 65-year-old inhabitant.
The 380-square-foot plan gathers a shaded veranda, bedroom, kitchen and bathroom around a small courtyard. Existing mango and coconut trees remain part of daily life, while the veranda opens the home to the neighbourhood.

Locally available one-inch sithukkal bricks revive the Indian brick bond. A layered brick and ferrocement roof tests a lighter alternative to conventional reinforced concrete construction, making the experiment itself part of the home.
